Finding a pharmacy that is open over Christmas

Most pharmacies change their hours over Christmas and New Year, and many close on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. NHS England asks local areas to make sure some pharmacies open on bank holidays, so there should be a pharmacy open near you on each of these days.

• Order repeat prescriptions early. GP surgeries and pharmacies are busy in December, so allow at least a week.
• Check the pharmacy’s own hours for each date before you travel. Many pharmacies add their Christmas hours to their NHS website profile in December.
• If you need medical help and cannot find an open pharmacy, call NHS 111 or use 111.nhs.uk. In an emergency, call 999.
