Editorial Policy
Our standards for accuracy, sourcing, corrections and medical content.
Last reviewed: August 2026 · Next review: November 2026Published by the Pharmacy Compare editorial team.
What we publish
- Directory listings for pharmacies, towns, counties and NHS regions, generated from official NHS data.
- Explanatory guides covering NHS pharmacy services in plain English.
- Reference pages such as this one, explaining how we operate.
Sourcing standard
Every factual claim in a directory listing must be supportable from the datasets named in our Methodology. Every claim in a guide must be supportable from official NHS or UK government guidance. Where NHS guidance conflicts with an older secondary source, NHS guidance takes precedence.
Language we avoid
We do not describe pharmacies as best, top-rated, trusted or approved unless a named authority has awarded that status. In particular we avoid the phrase NHS approved: pharmacies are NHS contracted, which is a different thing. We also avoid claiming our directory is complete, because the source data refreshes monthly.
Corrections
Corrections take priority over new content.
How to report an error
Email info@pharmacycompare.uk with the page URL, the ODS code shown on the listing, and what is wrong. A link to the correct information helps but is not required.
How we respond
We acknowledge reports within three working days. Listing errors are checked against the next NHSBSA release. Errors in guides are checked against current NHS guidance and corrected within seven working days where confirmed. Where a correction materially changes meaning, we note the correction date on the page.
Medical content
We are a directory and an explainer, not a healthcare provider. Our guides describe how NHS services work. They do not tell any individual what treatment to have. Contact your GP or NHS 111 for medical advice, call 999 in an emergency, and speak to a pharmacist about medicines. See our Medical Disclaimer.
Affiliate links and advertising
Our online pharmacies guide may contain affiliate links. Where an affiliate relationship exists it is disclosed on that page. Affiliate arrangements never determine which providers are included or how they are described; inclusion depends only on being NHS-contracted and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
We do not sell advertising placements to pharmacies, and we do not accept payment to list, feature or reorder any pharmacy. If this changes, it will be disclosed and dated here.
Authorship
Directory listings are generated from official NHS data under the transparent rules set out in our Methodology, so they carry no individual byline. Guides and reference pages are written, edited and approved by the Pharmacy Compare editorial team. If we introduce named authorship or external clinical review in future, this page will be updated to say so. We will not display a reviewer credit we do not genuinely have.
